As a kid, there was nothing quite like grabbing your bike, hitting the road, and soaking up all the freedom and adventure that came with it.

With summer around the corner and World Bicycle Day today, June 3rd, we’re celebrating by featuring an X Agency client that embodies the childhood excitement of bike riding, woom bikes USA!


What Is woom bikes USA?

woom bikes was founded in 2013 with the goal of rethinking kids’ bikes, a segment of the industry dominated by cheaply made, heavy and unintentionally designed bikes for young riders. Marcus Ihlenfeld and Christian Bezdeka launched the brand in Austria and in 2014 Marcus’s brother, Mathias Ihlenfeld, brought the brand to the USA and has been distributing bikes from their Austin, Texas-based headquarters ever since.

Over the past seven years, woom has disrupted the kids’ bike industry in North America, by becoming both the fastest-growing kids’ bike brand and the largest direct-to-consumer brand in the space. In 2020, woom bikes USA was recognized for the second year in a row by Inc. 5000 as one of the fastest-growing privately held companies in the US, with a stunning three-year growth rate of 742%.

Within the bike industry, consumers were familiar with a wide price range and, similarly, a wide range in quality, for adult bikes. Kids’ bikes were far behind and not made with kids in mind. With one standard option, they were often so poorly made that they were essentially disposable. From the weight to the handlebars, to pedal sizes and more, they made the bike riding experience cumbersome for kids. woom set out to improve the riding experience, making it easier for kids to learn to ride, allowing them to ride farther with less effort and more joy.

Finally, there was the revolutionary idea of throwing training wheels out the window. woom asked parents to trust that by starting their kids on a well-made balance bike at a young age, they would learn fundamental skills like balancing, steering, and braking. With these skills, the child would never experience the scary, often painful transition away from training wheels. Seven years later, woom is getting more kids on bikes than ever before.

The X Agency Impact

woom partnered with X Agency to increase profitability of their eCommerce site through paid search and paid social. While maintaining methodical spend, X Agency pushed efficiency within woom accounts while strategically testing audiences, bid strategies, segmentation, and A/B testing creative. While preparing for the launch of new bike inventory, the X Agency team has successfully scaled woom’s accessories and apparel collections.
